Death for Bruce Kastralski—Bruski to his friends—his not what he expected.  The long tunnel, the white light, his life flashing before his eyes, the reunion with family and friends; these things were largely unknown in the 1960s, when Bruski is swept off the coast of Waikiki, drowning in the receding tide.  The party after his arrival in the afterlife is still underway when his old friend Laura, whom he has not seen since she herself drowned on the eve of their high school graduation, recruits him to be her next spirit guide.  Laura is returning for another life on Earth and needs Bruski to help her out behind the scenes.  Can Bruski be true to Laura’s life plan without his own life’s baggage getting in the way?
